The Position

We’re looking for a Protocol Integration Engineer, passionate about analysing new DeFi protocols and enabling the measurement of user-level statistics. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to build Absinthe’s protocol integration infrastructure, powering critical customer insights and loyalty metrics across our platform. This is a high-ownership client facing role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, perfect for engineers who want to see their work directly impact product value and customer engagement.

What You’ll Do

• Unpack new EVM DeFi protocols to understand their functionality at the smart contract level.
• Write SQL queries to extract user-level data, such as volume, liquidity provision, and profit and loss (PnL), from each new DeFi protocol to support the design and measurement of incentive structures.
• Design and build custom data dashboards using analytics and visualization tools to provide actionable insights on user-level metrics and protocol performance for key decision-makers
• Collaborate with key client stakeholders to identify proprietary incentivization strategies and develop SQL queries to calculate actionable user and protocol performance metrics.
• Explore additional execution layers such as Solana VM, Substrate, BTC, and Move to develop unparalleled on-chain expertise.

What You Bring

• 2+ years of experience in data science and analytics engineering in fast-paced environments.
• Proven expertise working with Web3 data and analytics.
• Technical Mastery:
  • EVM and Solidity: Advanced skills in understanding and writing solidity based smart contracts with an acute understanding of the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
  • SQL and Data Analysis: Hands-on experience with SQL and query writing over blockchain data.
  • Proficiency in Python data science libraries such as numpy, pandas, scipy, and sklearn for advanced data manipulation and machine learning workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows.
  • Bonus: Demonstrated experience with Dune, Flipside, or similar analytics tools, together with familiarity with Solana VM, Substrate, or Move VM.
• Efficient Communicator: You’re skilled at conveying complex ideas in distributed teams and bring effective communication to collaborative projects.
